My name is Robert Long and I've been obsessed with metal and rock for as long as I can remember, I'm always excited to meet prospective students at all levels and help them achieve their musical goals! I live in Skerries, Co. Dublin, and I'm happy to travel around the country (within reason!) so you can learn from your own home!

I usually charge €25 for an introductory lesson to make sure I'm the right fit, and then €55 per lesson thereafter with a discount for bulk. I can work with all levels and ages, and can build you a tailored lesson plan!
I distinctly remember the first time I heard the growing, chorus-y tone of Duff McKagan's bass on Appetite for Destruction, and thinking to myself, what's THAT instrument? This began a lifelong love affair with the bass guitar in the context of hard rock and metal music. I'm inspired by too many bass players to mention, but definitely Duff McKagan, Cliff Burton (all the Metallica bass players really!), Pat Badger, Troy Sanders, Fieldy, Rachel Bolan, and Justin Chancellor need to be mentioned. All of these players have something in common: they helped elevate the bass from background noise into an interesting and integral part of their band's sound. In my other life I work professionally as a software engineer. I hold a first class honours degree in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, and a Grade 7 (Advanced) in guitar performance from Victoria School of Music. I also play mandolin and guitar!
